July 12-19th (see schedule)
In this two-part workshop, you'll first learn the fundamentals of modular synthesis - how waveforms sound, what a module is, and how we utilize voltages to create and sculpt sound - through the lens of the popular Eurorack modular synth format! Then, at the end of part one and throughout part two, we'll dive into VCV Rack: a free and open source virtual Eurorack DAW that you'll be using to build a self-playing generative music system.
We'll be using some clones of popular hardware synths, so if you don't want to be tied to the computer screen for the rest of your music-making life, don't fret; this is just the place to start.
You can email Jordan Laurent at jlaurent.pdx@gmail.com to reach the instructor about these workshops. For more info on the software including hardware requirements, check out https://vcvrack.com/manual/Installing
All sessions will be conducted via Zoom - link will be provided after registration.
